ConVecs may carry only structure kits, which are built and stored at the Structure Factory. To load a structure kit, drive a ConVec onto the Structure Factory's dock. Ore's and Metals

Metals are required to build or repair structures and vehicles. To obtain metals, you must mine ore, then refine it at a smelter.

Mining and Smelting

A mine may be built at any location marked with a Mining Beacon, once the site has been surveyed. (Robo-Surveyors automatically survey a site when they drive to that location. Later in the game, the EDWARD Satellite will automatically survey all Mining Beacons.) Robo-Miners can be sent to mini…

Most of the structures in the game are assembled from structure kits built at the Structure Factory. These kits are then loaded on ConVecs and taken to an appropriate site to be deployed. Kits may be assembled at any location on the map as long as two requirements are met: the terrain in the tiles in which the structure will be placed must be passable (that is, a vehicle can drive to that location) and unoccupied by any other unit or structure; and there m…

Most structures in a colony require Power to operate. There are four structures whose sole function is to produce Power for the colony: Tokamak Fusion Reactors, MHD Generators (available only to Plymouth), Geothermal Plants (available only to Eden), and Solar Power Arrays. In addition, a small amount of Power is generated by the Command Center. The Power generated by these structures is broadcast by microwave transmitters to each building in the colony; structures need not be physically…

Some Combat Considerations

Damage Types and Armor

Many vehicles and structures in the game have armor to protect them from disaster and attack. The damage done by weapons and disasters may be either concussion damage or penetration damage; many weapons do both kinds of damage. Concussion damage, which results from the application of raw force, can be partially reduced by armor. Penetration damage, which results from the piercing of shrapnel or other projectiles, slices right through armor. A…
